Life Base is where you keep your mind. That only works if you know what happens to what you write. Here it is, in plain words.
Life Base is operated from the United States and is reachable at lifebaseai@gmail.com. If you want to ask what we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, that address is the way, and a real person reads it.
What the app needs to work, plus a limited amount of information about how the product is used so we can improve it and keep it running.

The browser keeps your sign-in session and account-specific notebook copies, including recovery and history data, so editing can survive connection problems. These copies are not end-to-end encrypted. Signing out removes the private screen and stops that session's work, but does not erase every stored browser copy or any export you downloaded. On a shared computer, use a separate browser profile or private window and clear Life Base's site data when finished.
Images may use short-lived signed links. An issued link can remain usable until it expires, including after sign-out. We also use a short-lived, HTTP-only cookie to load public images through our server. Loading images from other websites or opening external links may disclose your IP address and request information to those websites.
AI features send your request and the relevant context to a model provider. Depending on the feature, that can include conversation history, page text, notebook material selected for a deeper answer, images of a drawing, search queries, and fetched web content. Background summaries can follow an AI conversation without a second click. Ordinary notebook editing does not by itself send the notebook to a model.
We use commercial APIs from OpenAI and Anthropic and do not opt your content into model training. We disable optional saved response objects on OpenAI requests. This is not a zero-retention promise: providers can retain data for abuse monitoring, temporary processing, legal requirements and policy enforcement. See OpenAI's data controls and Anthropic's retention policy. Their standard API retention rules generally include a 30-day period, with exceptions described in those policies.
Life Base currently uses server-readable storage and server-side AI processing. It does not provide end-to-end encryption. Connections use encryption in transit, and infrastructure providers protect stored data. Account access rules and tests are intended to prevent one account from accessing another's data. These controls do not prevent someone with access to your unlocked device or account from seeing what you can see.
Running this service means a small number of other companies process some data on our instructions:

As Life Base grows we may add or change providers. When we do, this list changes with it and the date at the top moves.
You can export notebook content from inside the app. Markdown is a readable text export. JSON includes notebook structure and content, but can reference uploaded files that remain in cloud storage; it is not a complete offline copy of every uploaded file or server-side feed. Save any files you need before deleting your account, or contact us for help obtaining a complete copy.
Open your account menu, choose Settings, then Delete account and type DELETE. Then:
Your own downloaded files, browser caches, emailed links and copies in a GitHub repository you control are outside live account deletion. Disconnecting GitHub stops future backups; it does not erase that repository's files or history. Remove those copies yourself where appropriate. Provider and legally required records may also outlast the account.
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or hand you a copy. Export and deletion are both buttons in the app, so you do not have to ask — but if you would rather ask, lifebaseai@gmail.com reaches a person.
Life Base is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
We use account access controls, private file storage, authentication checks, encrypted recovery copies and automated security tests. If you suspect a problem, contact us without sending passwords, tokens or another person's private content.
No one can promise perfection. So if your data is ever exposed, we will tell affected people directly, and within 72 hours of knowing: what happened, what was involved, and what we are doing about it. We would rather write an awkward email than have you find out some other way.
Life Base is an early product and it changes often. Some of what is coming touches privacy directly, so rather than quietly update this page later, here is what we already know:
We will keep updating this page as the product grows. That is normal for a young company and we would rather say so than pretend this document is finished. What will not change is the part that matters: your writing is yours, we do not sell it, and we do not train on it.
If we change something that matters, we will change the date at the top and tell you in the app.
