These are the rules of using Life Base, in plain words.

1. What Life Base is

Life Base is a notebook: pages, boards, and chat pages, with small apps you can place inside them, and an assistant that can work with what you have written. You use it through lifebase.ai with an account.

2. Your account

• You need a working email address, and it must be yours.
• Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
• One person per account. Sharing a login is how people lose work.
• You must be at least 13 to use Life Base.
• Tell us at lifebaseai@gmail.com if you think somebody else is in your account.

3. Your work is yours

You own everything you write, draw, upload and make in Life Base. We claim no ownership of it, and no licence beyond what running the service requires — storing it, showing it back to you, backing it up, and sending it to the assistant when you ask it to do something.

We do not train AI models on your content, we do not sell it, and we do not show it to anyone else.

4. The assistant

• It can be wrong. It's a language model. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
• What you send it is processed by a model provider so it can answer. The details are in the privacy page.
• You're responsible for what you ask it to do and what you do with the result.
• Keep your own copy of anything important. That's true of any software, and it's true here.

5. Money

What's free

The notebook itself is free. Pages, boards and chat pages. Undo, version history, recovery, search, and full export. Most app-blocks and app-nodes are free to use, because they cost us nothing each time you use one.

What credits are for

Some things cost us money every single time they run — the assistant, and the AI features built into or added onto some of the apps. Those run on credits.

• Many apps work fully without any AI at all. Where an app has AI built in, or offers it as a bonus, using that part spends credits while the rest of the app stays free.
• A new account starts with no credits. Everything that isn't AI works immediately and fully.
• Everything is priced in credits, not in cents. You see credits in the app; you never have to do arithmetic about what a sentence costs. Each action's price in credits is fixed and known before it runs, so a long answer never costs more than it said it would.
• An action that fails, or that you stop, costs nothing.
• Credits from a monthly allowance top up to full each month rather than stacking up forever.
• Plans and what they include are shown in the app. We may change what plans exist, what they include, or what they cost, as the product grows — and if a change affects what you're already paying for, we'll tell you before it takes effect.

Running out

At zero credits, nothing you have written is locked away. The notebook, your pages, your boards and your apps keep working exactly as before. Only the parts that cost us money pause, and they say so.

Cancelling and refunds

• Cancel any time from Settings in the app. It doesn't require emailing anyone.
• When you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you already paid for.
• Deleting your account cancels your subscription the same day.
• We don't automatically refund part-months. If something went genuinely wrong — you were charged twice, or something you paid for didn't work — write to us and we'll sort it out.
• Credits already spent can't be refunded as credits, because the underlying cost is already spent.

6. What you agree not to do

• Don't break the law with it, or use it to hurt someone.
• Don't upload other people's private information, or content you have no right to.
• Don't try to get into other people's accounts or data.
• Don't attack, overload, or try to break the service. Ordinary heavy use is fine and welcome; deliberate abuse is not.
• Don't resell the assistant or use it to run a service of your own on top of ours.
• Don't use automated means to create accounts in bulk.

If you do these things we may suspend or close the account. Where we reasonably can, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to export your work.

7. Leaving

You can delete your account from Settings at any time. It closes immediately, your subscription is cancelled that day, and you have seven days to change your mind before anything is actually destroyed. After that it is permanent and unrecoverable — that's the point of it.

Export everything first if you want a copy. There's a button for it.

8. What we can and can't promise

• We take your work seriously. Every save is written locally first and then to the cloud, version history is kept, deleted things go somewhere recoverable, and security is tested adversarially before each release rather than assumed.
• We can't promise the service is never down, never has a bug, or never loses anything. Keep your own copy of anything you would be devastated to lose — the export button exists for exactly that.
• The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you've paid us in the previous twelve months.
• Some countries don't allow certain protections to be signed away — things like fraud, or death and injury caused by negligence. Where that's the case, their law wins and this section doesn't try to override it. This doesn't add any liability; it just says we're not pretending to disclaim what can't be disclaimed.

9. Changes

The app changes often — that's the point of it being early. Features get added, and occasionally something is removed because it was making the app worse. If we make a change that materially affects what you're paying for, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.

If we change these terms, the date at the top changes.

10. Ending things

You can stop using Life Base whenever you like. We can close an account that's breaking section 6, or if we have to shut the service down — and if we ever shut down, we'll give reasonable notice and a way to get everything out. Your work leaving with you is not negotiable.

11. The legal bits

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Texas. If some part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
